Plastic wrapping & baler twine & leaves on monoprint of wet soil from a polythene bag discarded in a field. 38x53cm
This bag was found not long after a period of exceptionally heavy rain, causing tons of topsoil to be washed away from fields and into the rivers. As well as increased risk of flooding, modern agricultural practice has contributed to the reduction in quality and stability of soil.This practice includes deep ploughing and the use of chemicals and plastics. Finding the bag made me angry. It was the first of the assemblages made with found plastic.
